Hey!
I'm Sergey Savvov, a Machine Learning Engineer, chemist, and nomad. I was born in Moscow, Russia, but currently, I reside in sunny Madrid, Spain. Although my education in Quantum and Physical Chemistry did not include programming courses, we extensively utilized statistical methods, which are now popularly known as Classical ML algorithms. As a result, I developed a strong focus on analytical thinking and a passion for continuous learning. Recently, I've been immersing myself in a new field - DevOps. Previously, I extensively worked in MLOps and backend development, but now I've decided to expand my knowledge.
C++
In my initial year, I worked as a C++ developer, where I created software for embedded systems. The project, to say the least, was mundane, involving tens of thousands of lines of code, many of which were repetitive but with device-specific modifications. The company aimed to provide modules to large enterprises for power system consumption analysis. It was during this time that I realized the potential of utilizing machine learning models to analyze the collected data and generate power consumption forecasts for different time periods. This realization marked the beginning of my journey in Data Science. Interestingly, I discovered that we had actually learned about these concepts in university, albeit using traditional calculators and graphing tools.
Data Science
Unfortunately, my plans to analyze energy traffic never materialized because I received an opportunity to work for a startup specializing in NLP. This marked the start of my ongoing Data Science journey. Throughout this period, I held various roles, including ML engineer, Python developer, Team Lead, and Head of AI. I had the opportunity to work in diverse fields such as biotech, trading, AdTech, and crypto. Some of the notable projects I have worked on include: Look-Alike modeling for user segmentation, classification of bacteria based on their amino, genome, and proteomics sequences, churn prediction, chat-bots, trading-bots, credit scoring using blockchain data, NFT collection price prediction, and much more.
